  1. Earlier commiting, wanted to check with you lot guys.
I only tried watching a trailer for Wanda and the site was
having trouble loading information technology.. commencement impression not and so good.

"This video could not load or timed out. Try refreshing the folio and playing again"

Also checking if it works with the Amazon firestick.
I originally bought that solely for the Filmstruck App, RIP.

  2. Their app for Apple TV and other hardware isn't launching until early Apr. Right now they but take streaming of a few sample movies through your web browser, I retrieve. I haven't bothered to try whatever of them - I'm a lease subscriber, but I'k waiting for the full service and Apple tree TV app to launch.
  3. I promise it'due south an comeback on Filmstruck; importantly, the inclusion of a download feature option for later offline viewing (similar Netflix). May try information technology for a month or two.
  4. I must admit that I am all in for this kind of stuff "warts and all"...just because of the programming. I was crushed when Filmstruck died. Never had any bug with Filmstruck merely I never needed to view offline or download.
  5. I don't know if I was crushed, but I do miss information technology. All you tin can do is put your coin where your mouth is and back up endeavors similar this. I'll subscribe to the Criterion Channel until information technology gets canceled too. :)
  6. Thankfully, unlike the sometime Filmstruck, this is available in Canada.

I'yard a subscriber, and loving it. Information technology's simply one movie a week, until launch, but I've been enjoying them. Can't wait for the total launch.

It'south nice that they have likewise been including the extras for the films I've watched. For case, the current Moving-picture show of the Week is For All Mankind, and at that place are 8 dissimilar extras, including a commentary rails.

I will say, however, that the interface isn't the greatest. It's very bones. It could, at least, use a 10 sec replay, or something similar.

It'south also not unusual to get nearly x-twenty seconds of low-res video when starting. I have a fast connexion, and so this shouldn't happen. Information technology likewise causes concern for when the full service launches, and I would wait they get significantly more traffic.

The other consequence is that I take a two monitor system. I can only play it on my main monitor. *

If I try it on my secondary monitor, I go a message "Sorry, this video cannot exist played while your device is connected to this external monitor."

*Although, I just tried to reproduce that error and it seemed to work fine, and then mayhap they've stock-still the upshot.

  7. Pretty certain they'll have a fancier app when the service launches, although the Apple TV Filmstruck app didn't feature the well-nigh intuitive interface I've always seen.
  8. I hope they have a better platform than FilmStruck (or Watch TCM), which were unwatchable on my 3 year old Roku due to constant buffereing - none of which is a trouble with any other app I have on my Roku like Netflix or Hulu or Amazon
  9. They've announced some of their introductory programming, it looks pretty similar to what was on Filmstruck, which is fine with me.

The Criterion Channel Announces Launch Lineup

  10. I signed up. If I only got around to watching ii movies a month that's 4.50 a motion-picture show. Not bad.
  11. Yes, I'm using it. As already mentioned, surprised and glad they made it available in Canada.
  12. I desire to have a Bergman festival!!!
  13. I may have missed it, but if anyone knows: Is the Criterion Channel going to exist in 1080 or will they repeat from before and only exist running in 720?
    C.
  14. I just signed upwardly!
hmm wasn't there a deal if you lot signed upward before April there was a discount?
  15. The deal I got... $89. a year, starting time month gratis, no beak 'till May.
  16. Tin't determine what to do - budget for Criterion Channel so my wife won't have time to sentry Disney+...or, budget for Disney+ and so my wife won't spare me fourth dimension for all the extras on Criterion Aqueduct. :mudscrying:

Say, this would be an excellent window of opportunity for Benchmark to fix some sort of series available at local fine art cinemas, to have avantage of branding purposes. Pristine, crystal-clean features, perhaps with a shorts-programme at the front with edited extra-features cloth, maybe a drawing and some "go on out to the Antechamber" crap, 15 minutes earlier the show, and 20 minutes afterwards for the die-hards...?

(Or, maybe they could slap together a "distressed" version of the channel for digital-circulate-Tv side-channels, featuring "special" splice-ridden, colour-faded, scratchy prints riddled with 5-minute infomercial breaks...just so the geezers could accept something to spotter? Merely remember: "Tonight on 'Criterion Deluxe' - see the all-new, over-colorized edition of Hitchcock's The Birds...now, with only 10 birds!" )

  17. The more we go signed upwards from this board the more we tin can talk about the 7th Seal in the "Unfunny Comedies" thread.
  18. Looks like a pretty nice lineup for the first month.

I do miss Filmstruck though. This service seems like it will have a lot less Hollywood movies from the B&Westward era. That's what I am mostly looking for although I enjoy the international classics likewise.

    Nonetheless no Xbox app? Amazing.

  19. Not bachelor in the U.k. I believe...which is a shame as everyone knows we are a more than cultured agglomeration ;)
  20. I signed up, even though I have pretty much all the Benchmark titles I want on disc. I'k hoping that the selection of movies they show that aren't on disc will exist selected with the aforementioned good sense of taste as the Collection--sort of a classier version of TCM, and without the shortcomings of Filmstruck.

I area of opportunity would be high quality versions of the corking movies that are now in the public domain, but generally only bachelor in poor quality.

  21. Going to requite this a try for the month, merely signed up as well.. didn't love the filmstruck interface and then eventually cancelled sfter a year on that 1.. hope this one is better
  22. I signed up for the trial and volition test it out in April.

It'll be interesting to run across how much of their catalog that is on disc is besides bachelor to stream. I'd similar to see their Eclipse releases bachelor to stream in HD.

  23. Signed upwards, but without a Roku app release yet, I tin can't actually effort out the bonus weekly picture on anything merely my windows pc. Information technology doesn't work on my phone fifty-fifty though it meets the OS/Browser specs.

Was also disappointed to see chromebooks aren't supported.

Nosotros'll run across how it all shakes out in April.

  24. We don't desire cultured people - nosotros desire yobs who'll mutter that there's not enough slapstick humor in Ordet.
